Tourists to Quang Ninh rise during holidays

The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh welcomed 625,400 tourists during the five-day holidays of National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day, which lasted from April 27, up 18 percent year-on-year.

Quang Ninh (VNA) - The northern coastal province of QuangNinh welcomed 625,400 tourists during the five-dayholidays of National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day, which lastedfrom April 27, up 18 percent year-on-year.

According to the provincial Department ofTourism, Ha Long Bay is the most attraction, welcoming about 100,952 holidaymakersduring the holidays, 20 percent higher than that of the same period last year.

The number of international visitors entering Quang Ninh throughthe Mong Cai international border gate reached 18,905, while Van Doninternational airport receiving 14 flights with 2,473 passengers.

Quang Ninh’s tourism sector has madebreakthroughs due to significant improvements in infrastructure development.Visitors now can easily access the province by various means of transportation:by sea, road, and airway.

A series of modern infrastructure projects recently were put into operation,including Ha Long-Hai Phong Expressway, Bach Dang Bridge, Van Don international airport, Ha Long International Cruise Port, and Ha Long-Van Donhighway.

Travel firms operating in Quang Ninh have paid attention to improving thequality of tourism services, with the aim of luring more tourists to thelocality.

Quang Ninh is endowed with natural advantages forsea and island tourism. It is home to the Ha Long and Bai Tu Long Bays, the HaLong Bay National Park and some islands, the best known of which are Co To andVan Don.

In particular, Ha Long Bay has been twicerecognised as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, pulling in visitors toQuang Ninh.

In 2018, the province hosted the National TourismYear under the theme “Ha Long – Heritage, Wonder, Friendly Destination”. It welcomeda record of over 12 million tourists, up 24 percent year-on-year. - VNA
