The event is co-hostedby the Centre for Research, Preservation and Promotion of VietnameseTraditional Culture and the Centre for Research, Preservation andPromotion of Vietnamese Traditional Music in an attempt to reaffirm theart’s emblematic value to Vietnamese traditional folk music.
Directorof the Centre for Research, Preservation and Promotion of VietnameseTraditional Culture, Professor Hoang Chuong, who is also generaldirector of the performance programme, said the art was very popular inmany northern localities and Hanoi during the early 20 th century.
Theperformance will consist of three parts, traditional Xam, contemporaryXam, and Xam in combination with other musical genres. Theevent will feature numerous artists, including Thanh Ngoan, Thuy Ngan,saxophone artist Phan Anh Dung, singer Ha Linh, beat boxer Minh Kien,and the Ha Thanh Xam group.
It is the first time that the country is to hold a G1-level tournament which is expected to lure more than 100 athletes of 15 countries and regions at Go Vap Gymnasium.
