Transport ministry orders investigation into Vietjet plane’s technical error

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has assigned the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) to clarify the cause of the latest incident at Vietjet Air when Flight VJ513 of the budget carrier from Noi Bai International Airport to Da Nang on December 26 faced a technical error.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry ofTransport (MoT) has assigned the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) to look into the cause of the latest incident at Vietjet Air when Flight VJ513 ofthe budget carrier from Noi Bai International Airport to Da Nang on December 26faced a technical error.

A representative of Vietjet Air said theflight was postponed following an alarm on a technical problem but the aircraftwas later determined as meeting conditions for operation and the flight wasresumed later the same day.

Several incidents related to the budgetcarrier took place within the past two days.

Earlier, the MoT ordered the CAAV and thecarrier to set up an investigation team to look into the cause of the case inwhich the plane performing Flight VJ689 landed in a wrong runway at Cam RanhInternational Airport in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa at noonDecember 25. It said the incident poses a serious threat in terms of aviationsafety.

The CAAV has suspended the flight crewpending investigation.

The authority has also decided not to allowVietjet to increase the number of flights. At the same time, it imposes specialsupervision of the budget carrier at four international airports of Noi Bai (inHanoi), Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), Cam Ranh, and Da Nang (the centralcity of Da Nang).-VNA
