Hanoi (VNA) - Trial operation ofone toll station on the Cau Gie-Ninh Binh Expressway hasstarted, the Vietnam Road Administration reported.
At a meeting last month, Minister ofTransport Truong Quang Nghia asked the Vietnam RoadAdministration to remove the Dai Xuyen toll station on the Cau Gie-Ninh BinhExpressway no later than January 1, 2017.
According to the Vietnam RoadAdministration, two toll stations located on the nearly100km expressway was notnecessary. The elimination of the Dai Xuyen toll station will helpvehicles travel faster.
Mai Tuan Anh, General Director of the VietnamExpressway Corporation (VEC) - the Dai Xuyen toll station collector,said in 2015 and the first half of 2016 alone, there were 70 traffic jamcases. Congestion was seen on both sides of the booth, covering a distance of0.3km and going up to 3km.
The toll station is now under management of VECand BOT Phap Van-Cau Gie Company.
Profits from the station will be divided betweenthe two companies.-VNA
