Turkish economic official welcomes NA Chairwoman to business forum

Istanbul (VNA) – President of the ForeignEconomic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK) Nail Olpak welcomed National AssemblyChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to the country to attend the Turkey-VietnamBusiness and Investment Forum during a meeting in Istanbul on October 8.

Olpak said the forum, held on the occasion of the 40thanniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, attracted nearly 160 Turkish firms,proving their interest in the Vietnamese market.

He revealed that a delegation of Turkish enterprises willarrive in Vietnam to attend a week of fashion and cuisine in late October.

Introducing the DEIK’s function and mission, Olpak said theboard was established in 1985 in order to monitor the 144 Turkish businesscouncils worldwide. In the Asia-Pacific alone, it has nine business councils incharge of coordinating Turkey’s global business operations and holdingresponsibility for foreign economic-trade delegations working in the country.

NA Chairwoman Ngan expressed her delight at the developmentof trade and investment ties between the two countries, especially since thesigning of the trade, economic, and technical cooperation agreement in 1997.

She thanked Olpak and DEIK for working closely withVietnamese agencies to hold the forum, adding that direct flights betweenVietnam and Turkey have facilitated bilateral trade, investment, and tourism.

The top legislator said the forum affords Vietnamese andTurkish firms a chance to learn about business opportunities in each side,thereby developing bilateral cooperation in the future. –VNA
