Le Tien Thang, director of the department, saidfive districts and a city have surpassed their targets while only NaHang district has met 99 percent of its plan.
The result isattributable to the department’s close coordination with authorities atcommunal and district levels as well as forestry companies to clear upland for reforestation and raise local people’s awareness of theforest’s roles and value, thus encouraging many economic sectors toinvest in forest planting.
With 60 percent of its natural areaunder forest, one of the highest coverage rates in the country, TuyenQuang has long considered commercial forestry as one of its spearheadeconomic sectors. The province currently houses more than 50 factoriesprocessing forestry products.-VNA
