Hanoi (VNA) – The draft law amending andsupplementing a number of articles of the Law on Higher Education is set to bescrutinised during the fifth sitting of the 14th National Assembly on May 30morning.

Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha, on behalf of Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc, will present a proposal of the document. Meanwhile, PhanThanh Binh, Chairman of the NA’s Culture, Education, Youth and Children, willdeliver a report assessing the draft law.

Also in the morning, legislators will look into the programme on building lawsand ordinances in 2019 and adjustments to the programme on building laws and ordinancesin 2018.

During the afternoon session, they will discuss in groups the draft lawsamending and supplementing a number of articles of the Education Law and theLaw on Higher Education.

The issuance of the draft Law on Higher Education aims to deal with legallimitations, complete a legal framework and address newly-emerging issues in tertiaryeducation, thus training high-quality human resources in the context ofnational industrialisation and modernisation, and international economicintegration.

The draft law comprises three articles, focusing on expanding the scope andimproving efficiency of university autonomy and reforming universityadministration, training management and State management amidst universityautonomy.-VNA
