Upgrade of Dak Long-Vang Tat border gate in Kon Tum proposed
The People’s Committee of the Central Highland province of Kon Tum on July 13 held talks with a working team on border affairs from Attapeu province, Laos, during which the two sides proposed to upgrade the pair of Dak Long (Vietnam) - Vang Tat (Laos) auxiliary border gates to main ones.

Kon Tum (VNA) – The People’s Committee of the CentralHighland province of Kon Tum on July 13 held talks with a working team onborder affairs🍸 from Attapeu province, Laos, during which the two sidesproposed to upgrade the pair of Dak Long (Vietnam) - Vang Tat (Laos) auxiliary border gates to main ones.
They evaluated the results of coordination in borderprotection. Discussing arising problems and difficulties in the work, the two sides put forward measures to strengthen cooperation in the coming time toeffectively implement the agreements and regulations on border and border gatesthat Vietnam and Laos have signed. A representative from Vang Tat Minerals Mining Ltd Company(formerly known as Vietnam - Laos Company) asked the two countries to createfavourable conditions for mineral import- export activities via border gates inAttapeu and Kon Tum provinces.
Deputy Governor of Attapeu province Thanuxay Banxalit saidthat as the company’s iron ore has to travel about 130 km to reach Vietnam’s DaNang seaport, Attapeu province wants Kon Tum province to study and propose theGovernment of Vietnam to facilitate the transport ofminerals through the Vang Tat - Dak Long border gate. Procedures and documentsrelated to import and export shall be carried out at Phu Cua - Bo Yinternational border gate.
The Lao official also suggested that Kon Tum provincecoordinates with Quang 🌞Nam province and Da Nang city to support the company intransporting iron ore to Da Nang seaport for export to third countries.Besides, the company is responsible for providing financia♊l support indeveloping the infrastructure of Vang Tat - Dak Long border gate./.
A scientific cooperation agreement was signed among the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, and the Lao Academy of Social and Economic Sciences in Hanoi on June 30.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
