US Defence Secretary to visit Vietnam on July 28, 29: Foreign ministry spokesperson
US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin will pay an official visit to Vietnam on July 28-29 at the invitation of Vietnamese Minister of National Defence Phan Văn Giang, spokesperson of the Vietnamese foreign ministry Le Thi Thu Hang said at the ministry's regular press conference held online on July 22.
Hanoi (VNA) – US Defence Secretary LloydAustin will pay an official visit to Vietnam on July 28-29 at the invitation ofVietnamese Minister of National Defence Phan Văn Giang, spokesperson of theVietnamese foreign ministry Le Thi Thu Hang said at the ministry's regular press conference held online on July 22.
Hang said the visit will contribute to strengthening friendshipand trust between the two peoples and armies, implementing agreements reachedby the two countries’ high-ranking leaders, and furthering the framework of theVietnam-US comprehensive partnership.
The US Department of Defence and the VietnameseMinistry of National Defence are scheduled to discuss ways to enhance relations between the two countries, realise agreements reached by theirhigh-ranking leaders, and promote the comprehensivepartnership, according to the spokeswoman./.
Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of shared concern during their phone talks on May 28.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Ha Kim Ngoc on June 23 met with Republican Senator Dan Sullivan of Alaska state to discuss measures aimed at further promoting the Vietnam - US comprehensive partnership.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
