US Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Vietnam from August 6-8, according to the Department’s press statement.
In Hanoi, the Secretary will meet with senior Vietnamese officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh to discuss bilateral and regional issues, the statement said.
He will also participate in an event marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of US-Vietnam diplomatic relations.
The visit is part of his tour of five countries, namely Egypt, Qatar, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam, from August 2.
Kerry will be in Cairo, Egypt, on August 2 to co-chair the US-Egypt Strategic Dialogue with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
On August 3, he will travel to Doha, Qatar, to meet with the Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Next, the Secretary will travel to Singapore on August 4 to meet with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Foreign Minister K. Shanmugam to discuss bilateral and regional issues as Singapore marks 50 years of independence.
He will then visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 4-6, to attend the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF). At the ARF, the Secretary will partic🌄ipate in four multilateral meetings including the Lower Mekong Initiative, US-ASEAN, East Asia Summit, and ASEAN Regional Forum ministers meetings.-VNA
