US students come for voluntary activities in Vietnam

Nine students and two teachers from George School of the US ’ Pennsylvania State are volunteering to do social activities in Vietnam ’s capital city of Hanoi from June 11-29 as part of their school’s service project.

On June 12 in Hanoi ,the George School delegation was received by Vice President of theVietnam-US Society (VUS) Bui The Giang who expressed his hope that thevisit will help the students understand more about Vietnam ’s land,people and culture.

He briefed the delegation onVietnam ’s situation and the two countries’ relations in economics,trade and culture, as well as operations of the VUS and the VietnamUnion of Friendship Organisations in fostering the relationship betweenVietnam ’s people and others, including the US .

The students are arranged to enjoy home stay with local hosts and takepart in such voluntary activities as cleaning and decorating houses,planting trees and gardening at the Vietnam Friendship Village in Hanoiwhere children victims of Agent Orange/dioxin are being cared.

They are scheduled to visit the Thang Long University, and SOSchildren’s village where orphans and children with disabilities arebeing raised and tour historical and cultural relic sites in Hanoi andsome northern provinces.-VNA
