The Young Family Festival was held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 28 in response to the Vietnam Family Day.
Apart from various activities, young families from across the cityjoined a forum dubbed “Family Culture in the Modern Era”, during whichthey had a chance to talk with experts about ways to care for childrenand ways to deal with family disputes to maintain happiness.
According to the organising board, the event aims to create anopportunity for members of young families to understand each otherbetter while serving as a playground for families to exchange and learnto build family happiness and preserve the traditional value ofVietnamese families.
The festival, jointly held bythe Vietnam Youth Federation in Ho Chi Minh City and the city’sYouth Culture House, also provided families with useful knowledge andinformation on educating their children.
The sameday, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Mekong Deltaprovince of Bac Lieu also organised a competition to make a familymeal.
As many as 18 teams from provincialdepartments and localities vied in cooking a meal for four people in 60minutes that cost less than 300,000 VND. Husbands also demonstratedtheir cooking skills as a way to share household chores with theirwives.
June 28 was made Vietnam Family Day in 2011 and the day has been celebrated nationwide every year.-VNA
