Tokyo (VNA) – Vice Chairman of theNational Assembly Uong Chu Luu started hisworking visit to Japan from July 3.

At Japan's National Graduate Institute forPolicy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo, the NA Vice Chairman had talks with GRIPS PresidentAkihiko Tanaka, and Director of the Centre for Global Leaders Development tolearn from Japanese experience in public management and reform of the JapaneseGovernment.

He spoke highly of the Institute and itsPresident Akihiko Tanaka, who instructed numerous big projects in Vietnam asbeing the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) from2012-2015.

Luu expressed his hope that as the President ofthe Institute, Akihiko Tanaka will promote the strategic partnership betweenVietnam and Japan in a more effective manner in the coming time.

For this part, Akihiko Tanaka pledged to boostcooperation between his institute and Vietnam’s relevant agencies, particularlyin personnel training.

The same day, Vice Chairman Luu visited theEmbassy of Vietnam in Japan, praising the embassy’s contributions to theVietnam-Japan ties’ development.

Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong highlighted the growing relationshipbetween the two nations, with the increasing number of high-level and localdelegation exchanges. Representatives of 30 provinces and cities of Vietnamcame to Japan to promote trade, investment and cultural exchanges in 2016.

Besides, the number of overseas Vietnameseaccounts for seven percent of the total foreigners in Japan, including 60,000students, almost tripling the total number of students from other SoutheastAsian nations, he said.

The figures show that the Vietnam-Japan relations will further develop, theambassador added.

The NA Vice Chairman also took a tour of CanonGroup, one of the successful investor in Vietnam. The group said it is keen on investingin the support industry in Vietnam.-VNA
