Vietnam Airlines adjusts flight schedules due to storm

Vietnam Airlines has changed flight schedules at Cat Bi International Airport in the northern city of Hai Phong as typhoon Mirinae is forecast to hit the Gulf of Tokin on July 27.

Hanoi (VNA) 🌺– Vietnam Airlines has changed flight schedules at Cat Bi International Airport in the northern city of Hai Phong as typhoon Mirinae is forecast to hit the Gulf of Tokin on July 27.

The national flag carrier said it will not operate flights VN1188 and VN1189 on the route between Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong, which are due to take off at nightfall of July 27.
Instead, alternate flights VN7188 from HCM City to Hai Phong and VN7189 from Hai Phong to HCM City will be conducted on July 28 morning. Meanwhile, the low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific said its flights between the two cities, including BL518 and BL519, will take off and land at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on July 27 evening. Flights operation at Noi Bai, Tho Xuan airport in Thanh Hoa province and Vinh airport in Nghe An province could be changed due to the typhoon.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, by 1pm on July 26, typhoon Mirinae was centered at about 18.3 degrees north latitude and 112.1 degrees east longitude, about 170km north of Vietnam ’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago. In the next 24 hours, the storm is forecast to move west-northwest at a speed of up to 20km per hour. The northeastern and northern mountainous areas are forecast to experience heavy rains on the evening of July 27.-VNA
