Vietnam attends extraordinary teleconference of communist and workers’ parties

Hanoi (VNA) - A Vietnamese delegation led by Nguyen ThiHoang Van, Vice Chairwoman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for ExternalRelations, attended an extraordinary teleconference of the InternationalMeeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties (IMCWP) held on December 10-11.
Addressing the event, Van reaffirmedVietnam’s consistent support for the just struggle of nations and called for strengtheninginternational solidarity among communist and workers’ parties and amongdemocratic, peace-loving and progressive forces in the world.
The Vietnamese official alsobriefed participants on the results of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam andshared some socio-economic achievements that Vietnam has obtained after 35years of doi moi (renewal) as well as orientations and developmentperspectives of the country in the future.
This was the first time thatthe IMCWP has been held online after being suspended for two years due to theCOVID-19 pandemic. Representatives of communistand workers' parties at the meeting exchanged and assessed the currentinternational situation, especially complicated developments in politics andsecurity in Europe and the Asia-Pacific. They also emphasised the need to enhanceinternational solidarity in the communist and workers' movements and expressedsupport and solidarity with Cuba and Palestine.
The teleconference, co-organisedby the Communist Party of Greece and the Communist Party of Turkey, broughttogether representatives of 73 communist and workers' parties from 57 countries aroundthe world.
♛ It touched upon such issues as international economic, political andmilitary developments and the solidarity with Cuban and Palestinian people and all nations inthe fight against the sanction, conspiracies and belligerence of imperialism./.
The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association have sent a solidarity message affirming strong support for Cuban people in the context that the Cuban Revolution is facing the most difficult time during its 60-year history due to impacts of economic siege and embargos and the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
