Vietnam attends Indo Defence Expo and Forum in Jakarta

Jakarta (VNA) – Vietnam joined 54 other nations at the Indo Defence Expo and Forum, which opened in Jakarta on June 11.

The four-day event draws 1,180 international companies, serving as a platform for showcasing cutting-edge defence equipment and technology while bolstering global defence collaboration.

The Vietnamese delegation to the event is led by Major General Nguyen Ba Luc, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

In his opening speech, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasised the forum creates opportunities for nations worldwide to monitor defence sector development and expand cooperation in defence technology and science. The President drew upon Indonesia's fight for complete independence, highlighting how modern defence capabilities now serve broader social goals, including poverty reduction, alongside military missions.

The exhibition, the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia, spans nearly 70,000 square metres, strategically divided into various specialised areas.

On the occasion, President Prabowo witnessed the signing of 18 Memoranda of Understanding on cooperation in defence industry between Indonesia and participating nations.

The event also features workshops focusing on technology transfer and defence cooperation, as well as networking sessions between international businesses and policy makers./.
