Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh was pledged to haveassistance in improving the country’s capacity of dealing with theconsequences of unexploded ordnance (UXO) left over from the wars duringhis working visit to Australia from April 7-12.
In thehost country, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Vinh, who also works as head of thepermanent office of the State Steering Committee on the National MineAction Plan (also known as the Steering Committee 504), paid a courtesyvisit to Michael Ronaldson, Minister for Veterans Affairs.
He andhis entourage had discussions with Vice Chief of the Defence ForceLieut. Gen. Mark Binskin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and TradeGillian Bird, and key officials from the Ministry for Veterans Affairs,relating to humanitarian cooperation to help UXO victims’ communityreintegration.
