Thua Thien – Hue (VNA) – Vietnambeat Myanmar 5 – 2 in the group stages of the 2018 Thanh Nien newspaper InternationalU21 Football Tournament, in Hue city, the central province of Thua Thien – Hue,on December 12.

The same day, the two remaining teams met, with Malaysia defeating the Republicof Korea 1-0.

The results meant the host topped the four-team table on goal difference.

The four teams will continue competing at TuDo Stadium in a round robin format until December 22, with the best twoentering the final. The winner will win 12,000 USD, while the second and thirdteams will receive 7,000 and 5,000 USD, respectively.

It is the second time the competition has takenplace in the ancient imperial city, which hosted the National U21 Championshiplast November. The Vietnamese team includes the top players from November’sevent.

Previously, the international tournament wasscheduled to be held in Nha Trang, however, because of bad weather forecast forthe city, it was moved to Hue.

Last year, Japanese representative Yokohamalifted the trophy in the tournament’s previous edition held in the Mekong Deltacity of Can Tho.-VNA
