Vietnam beat Turkmenistan in Davis Cup

Vietnam defeated Turkmenistan 3-0 in the opening match of Group B in the Davis Cup’s Group Three Asia/Ocean Zone in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on March 25.

Nguyen Hoang Thien beat Isa Mammetgulyyev 6-3 and 7-6 in the first men’s singles rubber.

Inthe second men’s singles match, Ly Hoang Nam, who had a double win atthe 25th Sarawak Chief Minister’s Cup (I) ITF Junior Tennis Championship(Grade 1) in Malaysia, easily beat Aleksandr Ernepesov 6-0 and 6-1.

In the men’s doubles, Do Minh Quan and Lam Quang Tri crushed Aleksandr Ernepesov and Georgiy Pochay 6-1 and 7-6.

Vietnam’s next rivals will be Syria and Cambodia, and they need to beat one of them to reach the event’s semi-finals.

The top two countries from this round will be promoted to Group 2 in 2016, while bottom two will be relegated to Group 4.-VNA
