Moscow (VNA) – Vice Chairman of theVietnam National Assembly’s External Relations Committee Nguyen Manh Tien led adelegation to visit Russia from March 18-22 to push the two countries’cooperation forward.
During a working session with Deputy Chairman ofRussia’s State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Anatoly Karpov in Moscow onMarch 21, the two sides expressed their pleasure at the growing friendship andcooperation in various fields, especially in economics, trade and investment.
The Vietnamese and Russian legislatures haveclosely worked together at international forums and are expected to hold moreregular delegation exchanges at all levels to increase mutual understanding andcreate a firm foundation to propel the two nations’ relations forward.
Currently, two-way trade is estimated at about 3billion USD. To realize the goal of 10 billion USD in 2020, the two sidesagreed to accelerate the ratification and implementation of agreements signedby their top leaders.
The Russian side affirmed they will facilitatethe bilateral collaboration in oil and gas and energy, as well as enableVietnamese businesses to export farm produce and seafood to the market,particularly when the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the EurasianEconomic Union has come into force.
The Vietnamese official proposed Russia relaxtourism visa for Vietnamese citizens and support overseas Vietnamese in thehost society.
The same day, Tien had a working session with DeputyChairman of the Federation Council’s Foreign Affairs Committee in charge of cultureand education Aleksandr Volkov, during which he expressed his confidence in thethriving cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments and localities inthe coming time.
For his part, Volkov highly valued theVietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership and believed that thebilateral relations will reap more accomplishments in the future based on themutual political trust nurtured by the two countries’ leaders.
Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation met with theVietnamese Embassy and business community in Russia.
