The national chess team will take part in the Asian Zone 3.3 ChessChampionship in the Philippines , which kicks off on January 22 inTagaytay City.
Participants will vie for cash prizes andthree berths (two for men and one for women) in the Men's World ChessCup and the Women's World Championships, slated for Tromso, Norway,from August 10 to September 5.
The Vietnam team in thePhilippines consists of seven male and five female masters. They hopeto get at least one player away to Norway.

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee.
