Vietnam claims bronze at Asian three-cushion billiards event

Ma Xuan Cuong of Vietnam bagged a bronze medal at the seventh Asian Three-Cushion Championship, which ended in the Republic of Korea on January 22.

Cuong lost to Chi-Yeon Cho of the host country 35-40 in the semi-finals.

The title went to star player Haeng Jik Kim, 23, of the RoK, who beatall well-known players from the RoK, Vietnam and Japan.

Kim took his first major championship as a senior after winning fourjunior world titles. In the final, he defeated compatriot Cho 40-29.

Eleven Vietnamese players took part in the tournament, which alsoserves as a qualification tournament for the 2015 Three-Cushion WorldCup, slated to take place in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City later this year.-VNA
