Vietnam claims three golds at 2025 Asian karate championships

The Vietnamese karate team delivered a strong showing at the 2025 Asian Karate Championships in Uzbekistan, securing three gold medals and one bronze, and finishing third overall in the medal tally.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese karate team delivered a strong showing at the 2025 Asian Karate Championships in Uzbekistan, securing three gold medals and one bronze, and finishing thi🥀rd overall in the medal tally.

Notably, Hoang Thi My Tam claimed gold in the women’s individual kumite 55kg category after a decisive 5-0 victory over Iran’s Saadati Fateme in the final. Tam advanced through the earlier rounds with wins over competitors from Nepal, Japan, and China.
Vietnam also earned a gold medal in the women's team kata event, marking a return to the top podium after a decade. The team, comprising Bui Ngoc Nhi, Hoang Thi Thu Uyen, Nguyen Ngoc Tram, and Nguyen Thi Phuong, edged out China in the final with a combined score of 42.1 points, compared to their opponent’s 41.7. The third gold came in the women's team kumite event, where Vietnam defeated Kazakhstan 2-0 in the final.
Additionally, Nguyen Ngoc Tram contributed a bronze in women’s individual kata. Head coach Duong Hoang Long praised the team’s efforts, describing the results as a reflection of the athletes' dedication and determination. Kazakhstan topped the medal table with four golds, followed by Japan. Vietnam placed third overall./.
