Vietnam, Cuba seek to enhance environmental cooperation

He suggested the two sidesestablish an memorandum of understanding or framework in environmentalprotection cooperation which facilitates delegation exchange andinformation sharing in the field during his working session with CubanMinister of Science, Technology and Environment Elba Rosa Perez Montoyain Havana this week.

For her part, the Cubanminister proposed the two countries share practices in environmentalmanagement alongside analysis and forecasts of climate change, includingsea level rise, stressing that they have huge potential to expandcooperation.

During the visit to Cuba from July5-10, Minister Quang and his entourage also attended the 10thInternational Conference on Environmental Protection and SustainableDevelopment which brought together around 1,000 delegates from acrossthe globe.

Minister Quang chaired a number ofplenary sessions of the conference and gave a presentation onenvironmental protection in the agricultural sector.-VNA

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste 💦recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.

Hundreds of trees planted in C🅠uc Phuong National Park as part of Forestival

Renowned artists including Ha Anh Tuan, Den Vau, and Phan Manh Quynh, along with many directors and attendees, took part in planting hundreds of rare tree species such as mun (Diospyros mun) and cho chi (Parashorea chinensis) in the Thung Bong area of the Cuc Phuong National Park, contributing to forest ecosystem restoration.
