Activities during the country’s annual biggest dance event, including a folk dance competition and an international dance festival, willtake place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from July 15 to October 29. Co-organised by the association, the Hanoi municipal Department ofCulture and Sports, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, themanagement board of Hanoi Thong Nhat park and Kinh Ky Foundation media company,the event is open to all professional and amateurartists living in Vietnam, including foreigners, who could compete in four agecategories of 6-9, 10-18, above 18, and above 50. In the folk dancecompetition, the preliminary round is underway from July 15-17 while the semi-final is slated for September 22 on an online format, and the finalin the south from October 19-22 and in the north from October 26-29./.
Around 20 dance troupes from Ho Chi Minh City and neighbouring provinces are participating in the 2022 HCM City Dance Arts Festival from October 24-26.
Many southern provinces in Vietnam are making efforts to preserve and promote the values of Romvong, a unique dance of the Khmer people that was recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2019.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela and the National Experimental Polytechnic University of the Armed Forces (UNEFA) of the Latin American country held a ceremony on May 26 to wrap up a cooking class and a “non” (Vietnamese conical hat) dance class at the school.
