Vietnam demands Taiwan end live-fire drills on Ba Binh Island

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam on August 23 demanded that Taiwan (China) immediately cease alllive-fire drills on Ba Binh (ItuAba) Island in Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and refrain from suchactions in the future.

During a regular pressconference on August 23, Vice Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry ofForeign Affairs Nguyen Phuong Tra also stressed that Vietnam once againresolutely opposes those actions.

The official was answering queriesfrom reporters on Vietnam’s reactionto Taiwan’s recent live-fire drills.

Taiwan’s continuation of live-firedrills on Ba Binh Island in Truong Sa archipelago – where Vietnam has legal basisand historic evidence to affirm its sovereignty – has seriously violated Vietnam’ssovereignty, threatened navigation and aviation security and safety in theregion, caused tensions, and complicated the situation, she stated.–VNA
