President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong paid a working visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to attend celebrations of the country’s 70th Liberation Day and the 50th founding anniversary of the Vietnam-DPRK and DPRK-Vietnam Friendship Associations.
On August 17, Hong was received by Chairperson of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Kim Jong Suk, who spoke highly of activities held by the VUFO and the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Association to consolidate and develop the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.
During his stay, he also met with leaders of the DPRK-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea, during which the two sides discussed measures to boost their relations.
The Vietnamese delegation visited several cultural and educational facilities in the DPRK.
On the occasion, the VUFO President was presented with the DPRK’s Friendship Order in recognition of his contributions to the friendship between the two countries’ peoples.-VNA
