Vietnam drawn in group B of 2026 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers

Hanoi (VNA)🤡 – The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has announced that the U20 women’s national team was drawn in group B of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers.
The draw took place on April 28 at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. According to the draw results, the group also includes Kyrgyzstan, Hong Kong (China), and Singapore.
The qualifiers will run from August 2-10, featuring 33 teams competing for 11 spots in the finals in Thailand in 2026. The teams are divided into eight groups, seven with four teams and one with five.
The matches will follow a round-robin format in Bhutan, China, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. The group winners, along with the three best runners-up, will join the host nation Thailand in the 12-team final tournament, scheduled to take place from April 1-18, 2026.
Following their qualification for the 2024 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup in Uzbekistan, the Vietnamese team is optimistic about repeating their success in the 2026 edition./.
These include the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers (Group E), the AFF U19 Women’s Championship 2025 and the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers.
The Vietnamese football scene in the RoK has seen remarkable growth, now boasting nearly 100 amateur teams. Every year, the Vietnam Football Association in the RoK organises two major tournaments, gathering around 30 teams and over 1,500 participants, along with numerous smaller-scale events throughout the year.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed that a triumph by the Vietnam U17 men's national football team would not only highlight the strides made in Vietnamese football but also elevate the sport’s development across the region, paving the way for its continued growth in Vietnam.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.

The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
