Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and Egyptstruck a number of cooperation agreements under the witness of Presidents TranDai Quang and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi after their talks in Hanoi on September 6.
The two countries signed the minutes of theVietnam-Egypt Intergovernmental Committee’s fifth meeting.
The Ministries of Industry and Trade signed aMemorandum of Understanding (MoU) on establishing a trade and industrycooperation sub-committee, while the Ministries of Transport inked a MoU onmarine transport collaboration.
A MoU was also inked between Radio The Voice ofVietnam (VOV) and Egypt’s national radio broadcaster.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports andTourism and Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism agreed to implement a tourismcooperation programme in 2017-2019 and a cultural partnership programme in2017-2021.
Memoranda of Understanding on cooperation werealso reached by Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment and Egypt’sMinistry of Investment and International Cooperation; and Vietnam’s Ministry ofPlanning and Investment and Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and RuralDevelopment and Egypt’s Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation obtained aMoU on fishery cooperation.
Egypt has been the second largest trade partnerof Vietnam in Africa, with two-way trade hitting 316 million USD in 2016.Vietnam exported seafood, automobile spare parts, fabric, black peppercorn,coffee, rubber and other consumer goods to Egypt and imported mainly chemicals,oil products, milk and dairy products, and fibres.-VNA
