Vietnam end in fifth place at Asian Nation Cup

- The Vietnamese ♑women’s team finished in fifth place at the Asian Nation Cup chess tournament in the United Arab Emirates on April 5.

The four-member team drew with Kazakhstan in the final round, in which Pham Le Thao Nguyen lost to Dinara Saduakassova, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung beat Zhansaya Abdulmalik, Hoang Thi Nhu Y drew with Madina Davletbayeva and Nguyen Thi Thanh An tied with Gulmira Dauletova.
China won the tournament, followed by Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in second and third places, respectively In the Open category, the Vietnamese team ranked ninth after losing to India in the last match.
Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and Dao Thien Hai managed their draws, while Nguyen Anh Khoi and Nguyen Minh Huy were defeated. The tournament continues with rapid and blitz chess competitions on April 7. Twenty-two male teams and 10 female squads are taking part in the tournament, which ends on April 8 in Abu Dhabi.-VNA
