Vietnam extends sympathy to Indonesia over tsunami-caused losses
Top leaders of Vietnam on September 29 sent messages of sympathy to Indonesian leaders over the huge losses in humans and property caused by earthquakes and tsunami in Palu city, Central Sulawesi province.

Hanoi (VNA) – Top leaders of Vietnam on September 29 sentmessages of sympathy to Indonesian leaders over the huge losses in humans andproperty caused by earthquakes and tsunami in Palu city, Central Sulawesiprovince.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinhcabled the messages to Indonesian President Joko Widodo, while NationalAssembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan sent the message to Speaker of thePeople’s Representative Council Bambang Soesatyo.
The same day, Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minhcabled a similar message to Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs RetnoMarsudi.
At least 384 people were killed, 29 other still missing and 540 injuredas rescue teams scoured the ravaged city of Palu, Central Sulawesi, onSeptember 29, a day after strong earthquakes and tsunami hit the region.-VNA
At least five people went missing after a tsunami ravaged Palu, a small city on Sulawesi island in the central part of Indonesia on September 28 after a number of strong earthquakes had hit the area earlier the same day, announced national disaster agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho.
The death toll from earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia has amounted to 384 and hundreds of injured people remained in hospitals, said the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) on September 29.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo said he will directly steer search and rescue activities following the earthquakes and tsunami in Donggala and Palu cities in central Sulawesi.

The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
