Vietnam secured 72 gold medals at the 28th Southeast Asian Games (SEAGames 28) by 4:30pm (Vietnam time) of June 14, surpassing its set goalof 70 gold medals.
On June 14, Vietnamese athletesclinched three in Pencak Silat with the first one going to Diep Ngoc VuMinh after he defeated an Indonesian rival in the men’s tanding class A(45-55kg).
Meanwhile, Hoang Thi Loan triumphed in the women’s tanding class C (55-60kg), beating Indonesia to get the third gold.
In rowing, Nguyen Van Linh was the first to cross the finishing linein the men’s lightweight single (1,000m) within 3 minutes and 33.13seconds.
His female counterparts Ta Thanh Huyen andPham Thi Thao pocketed another gold medal in the lightweight double whenthey finished 1,000 metres in 3 minutes and 36.94 seconds.
Le Thi An and Pham Thi Hue contributed another gold to Vietnam’s tallyafter racing in the women’s pair (1,000m) in 3 minutes and 41.72seconds.
The fourth gold in rowing was in thewomen’s lightweight four (1,000m) category with the result of 3 minutesand 22.70 seconds.
Also on June 14, archer Nguyen Tien Cuong won a gold medal in the men’s individual compound.
