Hanoi (VNA) - The 10th Vietnam HockeyFestival is scheduled to start at the Vietnam Hockey Centre in Ben Luc town,Long An province on November 4-5.
The event is a six-a-side hockey tournamentplayed outdoors, which started in Vietnam in 2008.
The tournament will attract theparticipation of 24 teams from Australia, United Arab Emirates, Singapore,Malaysia and Brunei alongside five teams from the host nation Vietnam.
Notably, Vietnam’s Ton Duc Thang Universitywill put forward two teams at the upcoming event for the first time.
“I am very pleased my new players will getexperience against foreign teams at the festival,” said Huynh Dai Phuc, coachof Ton Duc Thang University.”
It is one of many hockey tournaments inSoutheast Asia which promotes the sport supported by the Asian HockeyFederation and Vietnam Hockey Federation (VHF). It is designed to giveVietnamese players exposure to foreign hockey talents playing in Vietnam,” saidJames Chew, CEO of VHF.
Tran Van Manh, president of VHF, said hehoped this tournament would continue to promote hockey in the country.

A friendly ice hockey match was held in Hanoi on January 13 between Canadian and Vietnamese amateur players as part of the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group’s visit to Vietnam.
Six Vietnamese athletes will compete in the eighth Asian Winter Games from February 19 to 27 in Sapporo, Japan, announced the Vietnam Sports Administration on February 6.
At the invitation of the Vietnam Hockey Federation, the Australian field hockey men and women teams will be in HCM City from March 31 to April 7 to promote field hockey in the country.

This year’s tournament has gathered over 300 coaches, athletes, and referees from 18 countries and territories, competing in 28 combat weight categories and eight performance categories. Vietnam’s team has 50 athletes, including six from Thai Nguyen province.
It is the first time that the country is to hold a G1-level tournament which is expected to lure more than 100 athletes of 15 countries and regions at Go Vap Gymnasium.
Nguyen Trong Nha Uyen has made history for Vietnam’s dancesport by clinching a bronze medal in the solo Latin category at the WDSF World Championship 2025 in Germany.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.

The event, part of Vietnam’s cultural diplomacy strategy through 2030, was jointly organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela and USM’s Faculty of International Relations. It attracted thousands of students from universities across Venezuela.
