Vietnam hosts Junior Athletics Championships

As many as 220 young athletes in the region are expected to take part in the 2013 Southeast Asian Junior Athletics Championships, which will open in Ho Chi Minh City on June 7.
As many as 220 young athletes in the region are expected to take part inthe 2013 Southeast Asian Junior Athletics Championships, which willopen in Ho Chi Minh City on June 7.

Competitorsfrom Thailand , Brunei , Malaysia , Indonesia , the Philippinesand Singapore , together with the host Vietnam , will compete for 60sets of medals, including 36 medals for teenagers aged under 18, and 24medals for those aged 18-21.

The competition offersan excellent opportunity for young athletes to sharpen their skillsbefore the 2014 Youth Olympic Games and the Asian Youth Games 2014.

The two-day event is co-hosted by HCM City ’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and Athletics Federation.-VNA
