Vietnam issues silver coins to celebrate DPRK-USA Summit

Hanoi (VNA)ꦬ – The VietnamStamp Company on February 27 issued 300 commemorative silver coins to welcome the second DPRK-USA Summit.

The summit between US President Donald Trump and KimJong-un, Chairman of the Worker’ Party of Korea (WPK) and the State AffairsCommission of the Democratic People’sRepublic of Korea (DPRK), is scheduled to take place in Hanoion February 27 and 28.

The commemorative coins are designed with twofaces, one with the image of a dove - the symbol of peace,an olive branch and the flags of the DPRK and the US, and the other with theimage of a lotus and the date of the summit. Thecoins cost 500,000 VND (around 21USD) each.

Last week, theWhite House gift shop also introduced a new coin in celebration of the secondDPRK-USA Summit in Hanoi.

Thecoins, which sell for 100 USD and are limited to1,000, read "New Avenue Towards Peace" and "A Turning Point - WorkingTowards Complete Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."

On February 26, the VietnameseMinistry of Information and Communications, in coordination with the Ministryof Foreign Affairs, issued a special stamp set to welcome the DPRK–USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam.

The stamp set includes one stamp of which the face value is 4,000 VNDwith the size of 43mm x 32 mm and one blog which is 222 mm x 114 mm. The stampis used in the postal network from February 26, 2019 to December 31, 2020.

Using typical art language and tight color scheme, the stampset shows the US and DPRK leaders’ hand-shaking on the background of Vietnamesepeaceful and friendly bamboos. 

It also depicts Vietnam’s flag and the bird of peace with the words“partnership for sustainable peace” in order to confirm Vietnam’s ability tohost international events as well as its friendliness, hospitality andresponsibility towards the world’s sustainable peace. 

Under the stamp is the image of Khue Van Cac (The Pavillionof Constellation of Literature) - the symbol of Hanoi which hosts thesecond DPRK-USA Summit.

With its meaningful language, the small stamp helps deliverthe message of “Vietnam - A safe and friendly destination” and “Hanoi – Cityfor Peace” to international friends.
