Vietnam-Japan culture exchange opened in Hai Phong

The Vietnam-Japan Culture Exchange kicked off in the northern city of Hai Phong on March 24, as part of activities to mark the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

Hai Phong (VNA) – The Vietnam-Japan Culture Exchange kicked off inthe northern city of Hai Phong on March 24, as part of activities to mark the45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

The event, together with the ongoing Japanese cherryblossoms exhibition displaying nearly 10,000 sakura branches transported fromJapan by air, is expected to help introduce Japan’s culture to Hai Phonglocals, enhance mutual understanding and trust between the two sides, andpromote diplomatic, investment and tourism ties between Hai Phong and Japaneselocalities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee Nguyen Van Tung said that Hai Phong is currently setting upties with six Japanese localities.

The city has 134 Japanese-invested projects worth 4.31billion USD, accounting for 30 percent of total foreign direct investment inthe city.

Japan has also provided official development assistance formany important projects in Hai Phong, including Binh bridge and Tan Vu-LachHuyen bridge and road, Hai Phong International Port, stated Tung.

Earlier, a seminar on investment and tourism promotion wasorganised, with seven memoranda of understanding on investment cooperationworth over 30 million USD inked.-VNA
