Vietnam joins cultural fair in Netherlands

The Vietnamese Embassy and students in the Netherlands have attended the International Community Fair 2011 themed, “Feel at home in the Hague” hosted by The HagueOnline organisation.
The Vietnamese Embassy and students in the Netherlands have attended theInternational Community Fair 2011 themed, “Feel at home in the Hague”hosted by The HagueOnline organisation.

Throughmany photos, handicrafts and books, the Vietnamese Embassy staff andstudents introduced international friends to the land and people ofVietnam as well as the country’s socio-economic development and itspolicies to overcome the adverse impacts of the global financial crisis.

At the fair, traditional dance performances stagedby Vietnamese students received enthusiastic applause from theaudience.

On the occasion, The HagueOnline, anorganisation offering support to activities of overseas communities inthe Hague , worked with the Vietnamese Embassy to publish 15,000pamphlets themed, “The Fair Magazine 2011”, which devotes one page topromote Vietnam ’s image.

With over 90 booths,the fair drew some 150 domestic and international cultural and sportsorganisations and about 3,000 visitors, mainly from the Dutch cities ofAmsterdam , the Hague , Rotterdam and Utrecht .

Apart from Vietnam , overseas communities from Thailand , Malaysiaand Ireland also came here to introduce their special cultures,sports and cuisine./.

✤ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.

The exhibition showcases more than 100 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main parts: “Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh” and “President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and Mentor of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.” This is an opportunity to recall the late leader’s journalism journey and affirm his exceptional role in founding and guiding the revolutionary press in Vietnam.
