The embassies of Vietnam and Laos in Japan held a people-to-people exchange programme in Tokyo on August 10 to mark the 55th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties and 40 years since the Treaty on Amity and Cooperation was signed.

Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuonghighlighted the close friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
In Japan, the bilateral tie were illustrated throughclose coordination between the two embassies, he said, hoping the relationswill continue to grow stronger through effective cooperation between theirrepresentative offices.
Lao Ambassador Viroth Sundara said the exchangehelped strengthen the two nations’ friendship.
Various activities were held during the event,including traditional art and cultural performances and table tenniscompetitions.-VNA
Vietnam’s central province of Quang Nam and Laos’ southeastern province of Sekong agreed to enhance comprehensive cooperation during a high-level meeting in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam, on August 7.
Leaders of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue and the Lao province of Sekong signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in various fields during their talks in Hue city on August 9.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
