The annual event onJune 26, held for the sixth time, was co-chaired by Deputy Minister ofPublic Security To Lam and Lao Security Deputy Minister KongthongPhongvichit.
This year’s agenda includedevaluating security, social order and safety in the respective nationsand reviewing the implementation of the two nations’ agreements onsecurity and anti-crime cooperation.
Participants also discussed joint approaches for transnational crime prevention and cooperation in the future.
Addressing the event, Lam called for closer cooperation between thetwo nations’ security forces to deal with increasingly complicatedcriminals.
For his part, Kongthong Phongvichit stressed the need for two sides to devise drastic measures against drug dealers.
He expressed his belief that the conference would contribute totightening security cooperation as well as the friendship, specialsolidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.-VNA
