Hanoi (VNA) –
National Assembly Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien on June 26 welcomed head of theJustice Committee of the Lao National Assembly Bouakham Thippavong. 

At the meeting in Hanoi, Hien briefed his gueston the operation of the Vietnamese NA’s Justice Committee which is in charge ofassessing draft laws and supervising activities of the Supreme People’s Courtand the Supreme People’s Procuracy, as well as the fight against corruption. 

The legislator suggested the two committeestighten their cooperation to exchange information, organise workshops to shareexperience and increase exchanges and meetings at bilateral and multilateralforums. 

Bouakham Thippavong highlighted the significantrole played by the justice sector to Laos’ social stability and order,anti-corruption as well as socio-economic and cultural development. 

It is necessary for the Lao Justice Committee,which was established in 2016, to learn from its Vietnamese counterpart’sorganisation and operation, she said, noting her hope that the Vietnamese andLao legislatures and the committees will intensify their coordination to promotethe time-honoured relations, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperationbetween the two Parties, States and people. 

Earlier the same day, Bouakham Thippavong heldtalks with her Vietnamese counterpart Le Thi Nga, during which they informedeach other about their committee’s operation.-VNA
