Vietnam-Laos relations vital to revolutionary cause in each country: State leader
Vietnam always appreciates the valuable contributions of the former Lao leaders to the special Vietnam-Laos relationship and hopes that with their prestige and extensive experience, they will continue to support and contribute ideas to further strengthening and deepening the cooperative relationship between the two Parties and countries.

Vientiane (VNA) - The relationship between Vietnam and Laos is an invaluable asset and crucial to the revolutionary cause of both countries, State President Luong Cuong affirmed while meeting former high-ranking leaders of Laos in Vientiane on April 25 as part of his two-day state visit to Laos.
At his meetings with Bounnhang Vorachith and Choummaly Sayasone, former Party General Secretaries and Presidents of Laos, Cuong conveyed to them the traditional new year Bunpimay greetings from Vietnam’s Party General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
He emphasised that Vietnam always appreciates the valuable contributions of the former Lao leaders to the special Vietnam-Laos relationship and hopes that with their prestige and extensive experience, they will continue to support and contribute ideas to further strengthening and deepening the cooperative relationship between the two Parties and countries.
The former Lao leaders congratulated Vietnam on its great achievements in recent times, including its increasingly enhanced role and position in the international arena. They showed their belief that the special solidarity between the two Parties, States and peoples will continue to be strengthened and bear fruit in the coming time.
They also welcomed the two countries’ friendship exchange programme held this time, adding that this is a meaningful activity to show gratitude to Lao comrades who have stood shoulder to shoulder with their Vietnamese peers, and together recall the heroic memories of the two peoples in the struggle for national independence and defence in the past as well as in the nation building and development at present.
The leaders agreed on the importance of paying further attention to educating the people, especi🍷ally the young generation, about the tradition of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; and continuing to stand side by side and coordinate closely to gain even greater victories./.
President Cuong emphasised that every victory in the past struggle for national liberation as well as in the current cause of building and defending the Fatherland of Vietnam has seen the valuable support, wholehearted, righteous and effective assistance of the Party, State and people of the Lao ethnic groups, and expressed the deep gratitude of the Vietnamese Party, State and people to their Lao counterparts.
State President Luong Cuong and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane on April 24 afternoon, beginning a two-way state visit to Laos at the invitation of General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President Thongloun Sisoulith.
Vietnam and Laos are neighboring countries, connected by shared mountains and rivers, with a long-standing bond of solidarity between their peoples. For more than 60 years, the Party, State, and people of both nations have preserved and promoted their great friendship, special solidarity, and enhanced comprehensive cooperation.
Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV, President Cuong said, the press has been a steadfast force on the ideological and cultural front, rallying the masses to pursue national aspirations.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.
He also pledged that the NA will promote its ongoing supervision, making sure that every promise must lead to results, and every commitment must bring about real changes.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.

The country is willing to participate in collective efforts to promote cooperation and mobilise resources to advance the current priority issues of developing countries, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, making the most of scientific and technological advances for development, and people-to-people exchanges, Hang said.
During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
The ministry has instructed Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel, Iran, as well as those in neighbouring countries, to closely monitor the situation and request local authorities to ensure absolute safety for Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in high-risk areas.
