Vietnam News Agency commemorates Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong
Leaders and staff members of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) expressed their respect for and great grief over the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at a commemoration held on July 22.

Hanoi (VNA) – Leaders and staff members of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) expressed their respect for and great grief over the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at a commemoration held on July 22.
The event at the VNA headquarters in Hanoi was connected with the agency’s representative offices in the central - Central Highlands and southern regions and the ITAXA One Member Co. Ltd based in Ho Chi Minh City via videoconference.
The Party leader passed away on July 19 at the age of 80.
Nguyen Phu Trong was General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee in the 11th, 12th, and 13th tenures; Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) in the 11th and 12th tenures; President of Vietnam; member of the Party Central Committee from the 7th to 13th tenures; member of the Politburo from the 8th to 13th tenures; deputy of the NA from the 11th to 15th tenures; and Editor-in-chief of the Communist Review from August 1991 to August 1996.
During nearly 60 years of working, he made outstanding contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
In every position, Trong always paid special attention to the VNA. He was the leader who launched the connection of the VNA’s portal with the internet in August 1998, and presented the Ho Chi Minh Order to the agency on September 15, 2010.
The leader also visited the VNA for many times during which he gave profound directions and offered encouragement to the agency's leaders and staff, calling them pioneering soldiers in the ideological and cultural front of the Party who excellently performed the task of maintaining the uninterrupted flow of mainstream news.

Many politicians around the world have expressed their condolences to the Party, State and people of Vietnam over the passing of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, and praised the role and contributions by the deceased to Vietnam and the communist movement, the progressive world and left-wing politics globally.
With the viewpoint “Bringing into play the strength of the whole nation with the people as the foundation”, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has inherited, enhanced and perfected the profound vision on national unity.
The Party and State of Vietnam always attach great importance to and give top priority to the development of Vietnam–China relations. Vietnam is ready to work with the Chinese Party and State to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promote the building of the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV, President Cuong said, the press has been a steadfast force on the ideological and cultural front, rallying the masses to pursue national aspirations.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.
He also pledged that the NA will promote its ongoing supervision, making sure that every promise must lead to results, and every commitment must bring about real changes.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
