Hanoi (VNA) – An inter-sectoral official delegation from Vietnamvisited US aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson on March 3-4 when the ship passedthrough the international waters near the country’s coast.
The visit was made under an invitation of the US Embassy inVietnam.
The Vietnamese officials were introduced to the ship’soperation, and given a chance to learn about crew members’ life and work on theship. They also engaged in exchanges with the crew members to enhance mutualunderstanding in the spirit of the bilateral Comprehensive Partnership and asan effort to maintain peace, stability, cooperation and development in theregion and the world.
Since 2009, Vietnam has sent officials to visit the US’saircraft carriers when they went through the international waters near thecountry’s coast.
Recently, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Pham Quang Vinh alsovisited the USS George H.W.Bush aircraft carrier (CVN-77) during an officialvisit to Norfolk city in the US state of Virginia from February 21-22.-VNA
Minister of National Defence General Ngo Xuan Lich held talks with US Secretary of Defence James Mattis, following an official welcoming ceremony for the latter in Hanoi on January 25.
The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, the guided missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain and the destroyer USS USS Wayne E.Meyer of the US Navy will make a goodwill visit to Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang from March 5-9.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
