At the event in the city of New Delhi, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Ton Sinh Thanh said the country’s public security force, set up in 1945 amid the peak of the August Revolution, has developed vigorously and become a crucial armed force that has contributed greatly to Vietnam’s revolutionary triumphs.
It has defeated coup plots and sabotage schemes of hostile forces, fought crimes, protected people’s lives and property and ensured security, order and a peaceful environment for national development, he added.
The diplomat said Vietnam and India set up security cooperation long ago but a representative office of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in India was just recently established in 2006.
The countries’ security ties have strongly expanded in recent years, as illustrated through Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang’s visit to India in 2013 and the Vietnam tour by Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in early 2015. They have also set up a security dialogue mechanism, Thanh noted.
At another ceremony in Algiers city, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Vu The Hiep reviewed the formation and growth of the Vietnam People’s Public Security Force, highlighting the force’s comprehensive advances and tremendous dedication to the fight for national freedom and contemporary development.-VNA
