Vietnam rank fifth at 11th ASEAN Schools Games

Vietnam finished in fifth place at the 11th ASEAN Schools Games, which wrapped up in Indonesia on July 24.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam finished in fifth place at the 11th ASEANSchools Games, which wrapped up in Indonesia on July 24.

The team earned eight golds, eight silvers and four bronzes after six days ofcompetition in Semarang.

Most of the medals went to track-and-field athletes with Le Tien Long and BuiThi Ngan each winning two titles. They also each set one record.

Competitors in pencak silat and table tennis contributed one silver medal each.

Hosts Indonesia topped the ranking with 43 gold medals. Thailand and Malaysiawere second and third.

The next Games will be held in the Philippines in 2020. - VNA

♋ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
