Vietnam reaps many diplomatic achievements: Foreign Ministry spokesperson

Hanoi (VNA) –💙 In the context of the COVID-19pandemic, Vietnam has reaped encouraging achievements in pandemic control, socio-economicdevelopment and particularly external relations, said Foreign Ministryspokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang.
At the Foreign Ministry’s regular press conference on January14, Hang said Vietnam has fulfilled its roles as Chair of ASEAN in 2020, Chairof the 41st General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-ParliamentaryAssembly (AIPA 41) and a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in thefirst year of the 2020-2021 tenure. She noted that bilateral and multilateral diplomatic activitiescontinued to be strengthened through both online and direct forms. Vietnam hasprovided support in the form of medical supplies to 51 countries andinternational organisations, contributing to global efforts in fighting the COVID-19pandemic. Amid the difficulties caused by the pandemic, Vietnam hastreated citizens infected by the novel coronavirus of many countries and sent them home, while protecting its owncitizens abroad. According to Hang, Vietnam has conducted 299 flights to bringmore than 80,000 Vietnamese citizens in 60 countries and territories back tothe home country./.
The Foreign Ministry is coordinating with ministries, sectors, localities and relevant agencies to study and build plans to repatriate Vietnamese citizens who really need to return to the country, according to the ministry’s spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang.
Vietnam has recently taken various measures to protect citizens abroad, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said at the ministry’s regular meeting on January 14.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
