Vietnam, RoK work together toward green economy

The Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE), in coordination with the Korea Environmental Industry Association (KEIA) of the Republic of Korea, held a forum on Vietnam-RoK environmental cooperation in Hanoi on October 24.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Association for Conservation of Natureand Environment (VACNE), in coordination with the KoreaEnvironmental Industry Association (KEIA) of the Republic of Korea, held aforum on Vietnam-RoK environmental cooperation in Hanoi on October 24.

Atthe event, in the framework of the Exhibition and Seminar forEnvironmental Technology & Equipment (ENVIROTEX 2019), VACNE Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Sinh said the forumaims to provide a chance for Vietnamese and RoK businesses to shareopportunities for cooperating in environmental projects at a time when bothVietnam and the RoK are working towards the green and circular economy.

Accordingto Sinh, the outcomes of the forum will serve as the basis for the KEIA tosubmit reports and projects to the RoK Government on promoting the partnershipbetween the two countries’ environmental companies.

Theevent featured two discussions on Vietnam’s needs for environmental projectsand the RoK’s environmental technologies.

Onthe sidelines of the forum, two cooperation MoUs were signed between VACNE andKEIA, and between Vietnam’s Environmental Incident Response Centre (SOSEnvironment) and the RoK’sTechno-bio company. The sideswill work to promote the use of environmentally-friendly equipment andtechnologies in both Vietnam and the RoK./.

🐻 Vietnam pioneers use of AI and remote sensing to monitor seawater quality

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.

🍬 Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
