Vietnam seeks Yunnan’s cooperation in border management

Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy 🗹Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has urged China’s Yunnan province to cooperate closely with Vietnam in implementing three documents on managing Vietnam-China ꦜland border.
During a reception for the visiting Vice Governor of China’s Yunnan province, Li Jiang, in Hanoi on May 9, the Deputy PM also said the two sides should work together to fight crime, smuggling and terrorism.
Strengthened labour management at border areas and trade facilitation at border gates are also needed for the building of Vietnam-China border of peace, stability, cooperation and development, he added.
The Vietnamese deputy PM affirmed the support by the Party and Government of Vietnam for cooperation between ministries, agencies and localities of the two countries.
Dung suggested Vietnam and Yunnan boost people-to-people exchange at their shared border areas and ramp up investment promotion activities for Vietnam’s localities and Yunnan to learn more about potentials and opportunity for bilateral partnership.
He hoped that Yunnan would further open the door to Vietnam’s products, particularly seafood, and agricultural and forestry products, in order to improve the trade balance.
For her part, Vice Governor Li Jiang said Yunnan always treasures ties with Vietnam and its localities and stands ready to join hands with Vietnam to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.-VNA
