Vietnam snatch second win at Sudirman Cup

Vietnam on May 23 grabbed their second win at the Total Badminton World Federation Sudirman Cup, the World Team Championships, beating Canada 5-0 in the Group 2A in Australia.

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam on May 23 grabbed their second win at the TotalBadminton World Federation Sudirman Cup, the World Team Championships, beatingCanada 5-0 in the Group 2A in Australia.

Top-flightplayer Nguyen Tien Minh encountered no difficulty to win 21-19, 21-11 againstJason Anthony Ho-Shue in the men’s singles match.

NguyenThuy Linh marked her Cup’s debut with a 21-12, 21-12 win against Brittney Tamin the women’s singles.

VuThi Trang, pairing with Pham Nhu Thao, trounced Michelle Tong and Josephine Wu21-9, 21-13 in the women’s doubles.

Thao,who then joined Do Tuan Duc in the mixed doubles, enjoyed her second win of21-13, 21-18 against Nyl Yakura and Tam.

Ducand teammate Pham Hong Nam beat Phillipe Gaumond and Maxime Marin 21-18 21-18in the men’s doubles.

In thefirst match on May 21, Vietnam won 4-1 over New Zealand.

Vietnamtop the group after two wins. They will play Scotland, who defeated New Zealand4-1on May 23, in ​May 24's action at the Gold Coast’s Carrara Sports & LeisureCentre. -VNA
