Vietnam to compete in 18 sports at Asian Beach Games 2014

Vietnamese athletes will compete in 18 out of 26 sports at the fourth Asian Beach Games 2014 (ABG 2014) to be held in Thailand from November 14 to 23.

According to Lam Quang Thanh, ViceGeneral Director of the National Sports Administration, Vietnam willsend 138 athletes to the event. He said the country is hopeful formedals in five disciplines, namely body building, Thai Muay, Jujitsu,beach petanque and kurash.

Themed “Celebrate CharmingSunshine,” ABG 2014 will take place on the most beautiful beaches ofPhuket island province with the participation of 2,645 players from 42countries and territories in Asia.

The fifth Asian BeachGames will be held in Vietnam in 2016. It will be the second timefor Vietnam to host an Asia level multi- sports event.-VNA
